Privacy Policy

If you are a minor and are not sure you understand everything in this Policy, please speak with a trusted adult before using PepRec. Please also remember that PepRec is not meant to be used if you are under 13.

This Privacy Policy is part of the User Agreement, which also comprises our Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Community Standards.

1. Information we receive about you

When we use the term Information, we mean data that may include but is not limited to personal data.

PepRec collects information that you provide directly to us (data that you provide to us) and through your use of our Services (data we collect when you use our Services).

1.1 Data that you provide to us

Account Creation Data: This is data that is required to create an account.

Phone number, first and/or last name, date of birth, location, email, gender, profile picture, and a username.

Content Data: We receive Content (as defined in the Terms) that you create when you use our Services.

This includes profile photos, photos, videos, emojis, captions, comments, messages, audio, or geolocation.

Remember: other users can copy (for example, screenshot) your Content and share it through other services, so we recommend that you do not share Content that you do not want other people to see or copy.

Communications with PepRec: When you report a concern with our Services, respond to a survey, request assistance, or exercise your rights, we receive information necessary to support you, respond to you, and improve our services.

This may include message content, photos, copies of government-issued identification, video, audio, identifiers (such as phone number or email), or other information.

1.2 Data we collect when you use our Services

Like all internet-based services, as you use our Services we automatically receive information from your device and from your usage of our Services.

Connection and Technical Data:

IP address, account creation date, last login, terminal equipment and port, operating system, system configuration data, pages and content viewed, mobile advertising IDs (Apple IDFA or Google AAID), and device identifiers (for example, IDFV for iOS and Android ID for Android).

Interaction Data:

Friends, number of friends, friend invitations, reactions, comments you leave on Content shared by others, friends you interact with most, and functional data related to comments or messages.

Usage Data:

Actions performed, time of action, Content viewed, Content interactions, deletions, blocking, hiding, screenshotting, application crashes, and event logs.

Device and Equipment Data:

Device type, operating system version, language preference, and applications.

We also receive data when you choose to use certain features of our Services:

Cameras and Photos Library.

Geolocation Data.

Address Book Data.

Integrations with partners.

2. How we use information we receive about you

Our Services are brought to you through a variety of software and technical infrastructure. Generally, we use information in the following ways:

Operation, Improvement, and Provision of our Services: To create an account for you, receive and display Content, identify Content or accounts that may interest you, ensure our Services operate as expected, and improve them.

Safety and Security: To ensure your safety and the safety of other users, the security of our Services and partners, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Advertising: To serve advertising tailored to user preferences and interests and allow PepRec to continue providing free products and services.

Measurement and Analytics: To measure effectiveness of our Services, including app performance (for example, crashes and causes of crashes), stability, and usage for account and Content recommendations.

Communications and Research.

The type and duration of information we keep are aligned with our processes and legal requirements for specific information acquired and stored.

3. When we share information about you

We only share your information when it is necessary to provide our Services or when required by law.

PepRec Employees: Authorized employees may need access to your information to operate our Services or provide support.

Other Users: When you share Content through our Services, that Content is available to your friends, or more broadly to all PepRec users if you choose broader sharing.

Service Providers: We work with partners who provide technical and hosting support, notifications, publishing and sharing features, analytics, satisfaction surveys, and security/fraud support. We may share information with them as needed to provide our Services.

Ad Partners: We work with advertising partners that may collect data via their own tools (software development kits, or SDKs) so that we can monetize ad inventory and continue offering free products and services.

Analytics Companies: We work with analytics partners that provide tools to help us understand product usage and improve our Services. These partners may also collect data through their own SDKs.

Partner Integrations: Where we partner to bring you a feature, we may need to share information with that partner to integrate the feature into our Services.

Legal and Statutory Purposes.

Change in Ownership: In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or bankruptcy, PepRec may share, sell, or transfer information about you. This Privacy Policy would apply to all transferred information.

4. How long do we keep information about you

Our goal is to keep your information only for as long as needed to provide our Services. In some cases, legal requirements may require longer retention.

Account Creation Data: Retained indefinitely (as long as you have an active account). If you delete your account, this information will be deleted.

Content Data: Retained indefinitely (as long as you have an active account) or until Content is deleted by you.

Communications with PepRec: Retained for no longer than 24 months.

Connection and Technical Data: Retained for no longer than 24 months. Some connection data may also be part of Account Creation Data and follow those retention rules.

Interaction Data: Retained indefinitely (as long as you have an active account) or until the interaction is deleted by you.

Usage Data: Retained for no longer than 24 months.

Device and Equipment Data: Retained for no longer than 24 months. Some data may also be part of Account Creation Data and follow those retention rules.

Cameras and Photos Library: Content data is retained indefinitely (as long as you have an active account) or until Content is deleted by you.

Geolocation Data: When shared as part of your Content, geolocation is retained as long as that Content remains on our systems (until you delete the Content or your account).

Address Book Data: Where phone numbers are kept, we keep them in hashed form and use them to help find friends when you choose to do so. This information is retained indefinitely (as long as you have an active account).

5. What controls do you have over your information

Notification Settings: In application settings, you can choose and control which notifications you receive.

Block or Hide Users.

Friend of Friends: You can choose to allow friends of friends to see the Content you share and can change this at any time in settings.

Time Zone: We determine your time zone when you create an account to provide our Services. You can change your time zone in settings at any time.

Integrations: We may offer integrations with partners. If those partners require you to log into their services, you can control these integrations in app settings.

Delete Your Account: In app settings, you can choose to delete your account at any time. Account deletion is scheduled and typically takes about 30 days.

If your account is permanently suspended and you choose to delete it, we will keep Account Creation Data to prevent permanently suspended users from creating new accounts.

6. What rights do you have over your information

Privacy is a fundamental human right. Every person using our Services, regardless of location, can expect the same baseline rights.

You can delete your account through in-app settings or by contacting privacy support.

You can understand who we share data with by reading our list of service providers and partners or by contacting privacy support.

You can request a copy of your information by contacting privacy support.

You can correct your information using in-app controls or by contacting privacy support.

You can appeal a decision related to your information by contacting privacy support.

You can ask questions about privacy practices by contacting privacy support.

You can contact our Office of Data Protection by contacting privacy support.

7. Children data

PepRec never knowingly collects personal data concerning children under 13 years of age.

Depending on where you live, if you are under the age of consent in your country, a parent or guardian may need to provide consent for you to use our Services.

If you are under 13, please do not use PepRec.

8. International transfers

Some partners and processors referred to in this Policy are located outside of the European Union.

In such cases, we ensure that personal data is transferred to countries recognized as offering an equivalent level of protection, or we use appropriate safeguards under applicable regulations.

For transfers outside countries recognized by the European Commission as having adequate protection, we use approved transfer mechanisms, including standard contractual clauses of the European Commission.
